Since I Left You is a journey, one that will take you to worlds that you never knew existed and then fling you back to worlds that you knew did exist but hadn't trekked through that world's deep undiscovered jungles. From the blissful opening of the title track through to the sheer funk voice sample of Frontier Psychiatrist this album will touch a nerve that you never knew existed.
Now I have listened to this album countless times and as much as I love it. My craving for a follow up may be even stronger. Rumours of a follow-up started as far back as 2005. So yeah you think maybe it'll be a year or so. Come 2006, 2007 still nothing. We are now about to enter the year 2010, a good nine years since this albums release, and still no new tracks, no firm announcement of a new record. Zilch, nada, nothing.
Now Since I Left You suffered delays for a couple of years due to a need for clearing samples which is always going to happen with an album that is created in such a way. Now that album infamously had a Madonna sample on which was cleared. Which is why I do not believe that this album is still being cleared for sampling reasons. Honestly is there actually any new material have The Avalanches just been fucking us over for the last eight years, teasing us every year a little bit more. Yeah well forget it ok, I'm just going to treasure Since I Left You very close to my heart. It's dear to me. Oh and in the mean time and probably before The Avalanches release an ounce of new material I will be releasing an Avalanches tribute album called Since You Left Us. It's going to be very bitter.
